So shooting begins tomorrow for my feature "Crooked Features" which I am directing.

Hopefully I'll find time somedays to keep my blog up-to-date about the making of it.

    Should be fun!

    Wink

Ditto. Hope it all goes as planned.

I've quite enjoyed reading your blog the last few weeks. It's been insightful to say the least. I had a question for you actually, was there a specific reason why you decided to put ads in casting magazines to find actors and not search Spotlight/get a casting director to find you actors who were exactly what you wanted?

I'm just interested because I'm casting at the moment and I've found it really helpful to be able to search through Spotlight and then I'll ask specific artists to come in to read for parts.

On the blogging front, I think I might start one for pre-production of my next short. It should be good to look back on in a few years time.

I'll put the link up soon. I'm sure I'll lose interest after a week or so but who knows.

    Andy

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">no real reason other than I'd used PCR before and know others who have used CastNet and shooting people and got good results. Essentially casting director has been one of Kevin Turrell's many hats during preproduction.

Spotlight's all very well but it's not immediately accessable to me and it has a certain prestige not associated with ass-end guerilla filmmaking ;-)

Some of the applicants we got from our other sources do indeed have spotlight listings as well as equity membership etc.

So have you completey cut the VM? Or does it still survive in an edited version?

People thought it was in 'bad taste' - durr! this is a film about the porn industry after all.

IMO, for what it's worth, I felt the VM was way too long anyway and would have benefitted from cutting down by AT LEAST half. It would be funnier and have more impact.

Did you find out which references people were particularly offended by?

    good luck.

Any chance you might let me and a friend do a bit of temporary composing for it.

Say you send me a scene or something and we can put something over it, see if you like it. A friend of mine really wants to get into film composing. He's quality, and might be able to do something piano or mood based.

    Tell me what you think.
